The Vale de São Vicente is officially classified as Geosite SV04 — one of Madeira's most scientifically significant valleys, shaped by differential erosion, mass movements, and centuries of volcanic and sedimentary layering. Beneath the green, this is a geological record of how the island was built. The most evolved valley on the north coast. The most meaningful place to start.
