Capelinha de Fátima — São Vicente · Madeira

Printed to order in São Vicente · Worldwide shipping
The first stone was laid on 13 May 1945 — the date of the Fátima apparitions, chosen deliberately, right after the end of a World War. The Capelinha de Nossa Senhora de Fátima was built as an act of gratitude on the Pico da Cova hill above São Vicente. 190 steps to the top. White neo-Gothic tower, steep spire, a large clock, a Latin cross.
From up there: the whole valley, the village's red rooftops, the surrounding mountains, the Atlantic as a thin line beyond. One of the best viewpoints on the north coast, reached through devotion, built in relief.
